William Lee of New Haven and Shawn McLoughlin of Newtown competed in the U.S. Senior Amateur Championship, Shady Oaks CC, Fort Worth, TX on Sept. 20-25. McLoughlin lost in the first round of match play. Lee did not qualify for match play. ... Dick Weigold of Torrington CC was the super senior winner of the New England Senior Championship, Nashua CC, Nashua, NH, on Sept. 8-10. ... Jack McConachie, head professional of Pine Valley GC, Southington, was named CT Section PGA Golf Professional of the Year. ... Competing in the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship, Milwaukee CC, River Hills, WI on Sept. 6-11 were Jim Doing of Winsted, Raymond Floyd of Old Greenwich, Patrick Griffin of Farmington and Bill Hermanson of East Lyme. Floyd lost in the first round of match play. Doing, Griffin and Hermanson did not qualify for match play. ... Competing in the U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Championship, Barton Hills CC, Ann Arbor, MI on Sept. 6-11 were Daria Cummings of Monroe, Lisa Fern-Boros of Shelton and Michelle Stelben of Darien.
